WELCOME TO TRADE TESTING BOARD PESHAWAR

The Trade Testing Board was established in 1994 under the National Training Ordinance, 1980, which was later amended in 2002. The said national law was subsequently repealed in 2021.

Following the repeal of the national legislation, the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa enacted the “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Trade Testing Board Act, 2025,” which was notified on 19 May 2025.Under this Act, the Board is mandated to conduct trade tests for vocational training courses and issue certificates to successful trainees.

According to Section 4(a) of the Act, the Board is authorized to affiliate skill development canter, industrial units, and other establishments by whatever name called imparting vocational or skill development training, and to register organizations or institutions offering such training.

Further, under Section 4(c), the Board shall develop systems and conduct trade tests and certification for skilled workers who have received vocational training through any source or have acquired skills through experience or informal systems. The Act also aims to promote vocational training in various trades and sectors within the Province and other regions, as provided under the Act.

Pakistan’s greatest asset is its human resource, upon which the progress and prosperity of the country largely depend. Human Resource Development plays a vital role in enhancing productivity and serves as a key driver for sustainable economic growth. Trade testing is the process of assessing the competence and technical knowledge of individuals aspiring to become skilled workers, through practical performance and written evaluation. It is essential that the quality of vocational training remains responsive to the emerging needs of the labour market, so as to ensure the availability of a skilled and competent workforce.
